And just like that, 2019 has come to an end, and with it an entire decade!
I wonder how your 2019 has been? Whether you’re celebrating today because of all the incredible things God’s done for you this year – including the fact you are alive and breathing right now. Or whether you’re hoping and praying for something that hasn’t happened this year that you hoped would, like passing a driving test, moving home, or securing a new job. Perhaps you’re excited because you know something brilliant is planned for next year, or just plain exhausted from a crazily hectic 2019! 😂
I find myself on this last day of December with a heart full of gratitude to God for the blessings He’s poured out this year. I graduated with a First, bought a car, started work – all huge milestones for me personally, and all answered prayers. But I also have a new perspective on life, based on some not-so-easy times – call it a greater sense of character and resilience, maybe. Through the highs and the lows, though, God has been immensely good, and I’m excited for what 2020 is going to bring.🥰
I hope that, however your 2019 looked, you will be encouraged to have a grateful heart for the miracle of you being here today – God has kept you. His plans for you are good, His promises are true.
4 Scriptures for your 2020:
Here are 4 of my favourite scriptures for this time of year, for your encouragement:
This is what God says,
the God who builds a road right through the ocean,
who carves a path through pounding waves, […]
“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands.Isaiah 43:18-19 MSG
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.1 John 5:14-15 NLT
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,Ecclesiastes 3:1-11
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
[…] He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.1 Peter 5:7 MSG
Be encouraged by these scriptures, as you enter the new year, that our God is a God of new beginnings and of starting afresh. That there is fresh grace and mercy available to you not just in the new year, but every single day. And that His love for you is completely unchanged, yesterday, today and forever. Whatever your 2019 looked like, through the good and the bad, cast your dreams, cares and wishes for 2020 and beyond onto Him, for He listens and He cares.
See you in 2020, and wishing you a wonderful New Year! ♥️
